Tea fixes everything- Turmeric Chai Tea
That dreaded time is upon us once again: The in between seasons when you’re not quite sure what weather you should dress in coats or dresses so end up just wearing multiple layers instead. It is also the time that everyone seems to be getting sick with common colds. Despite it being called “common cold” and it generally doesn’t last long, it really does suck while it lasts!
Unfortunately it hit me last weekend. I tried to fight a cold for so long but after a stressful week my body gave me a less than subtle signal that it was time time to slow down! I spent the weekend moving from the couch to outdoors in the sun. I felt pretty disgusting, with a pounding head from blocked sinuses, a scratchy throat, achey and tired.
A lot of people recommend taking cold and flu tablets but really they are just hiding the sickness, not actually helping get your immune back in check. I always try to use food and natural remedies as first call to support and restore our bodies when they are out of balance. Check out my top tips to get rid of a cold here.
So when I came down with the cold I tried to pump my body with nutrients by eating a lot of fresh veggies, and drinking lots of water and tea. I love tea and also love making chai tea from scratch. I thought this time however I would mix it up and add some turmeric for extra benefits.
Although it requires a few different ingredients, once you have them making this tea is so easy and so much nicer than store bought. I love how strong you can make it too! You can tailor it to your taste. Pretty much just add the ingredients to a pot... boil..
Add milk.. and voila!
